Jewish Spirituality: The Magazine
Inaugural Web Issue
Winter 2004/5764

Each issue of Jewish Spirituality: The Magazine is theme driven, addressing a specific Jewish area of interest from various points of view. All articles are directly related to the issue's theme and clearly convey the modern relevance of Jewish practices and/or teachings related to the topic. The theme of our inaugural web issue, for example is Modern Jewish Spirituality.

In this current century, access to world religions and spiritual practices is relatively simple. No longer does one have to be in an exclusive school or an ordained spiritual leader to experience or read about the tenets of any one particular religion, philosophy, or organized community.

In this sample web issue, leading teachers as well as new voices help us to explore the modern implications and historical context of contemporary Jewish spirituality.

  • What is Jewish spirituality?
  • Is Jewish spirituality new or has it always existed?
  • How does Jewish practice enhance your life, your commitments, and your relationships?
  • How do you transform everyday experiences into spiritual acts?
  • Why did Jewish ancestors historically restrict the study and applications of spiritual practice, making it difficult to access these traditions?
  • How do you begin a Jewish spiritual practice?
